October Therapist of the Month – Heather Kimzey, PT

Heather Kimzey from the Gladstone clinic is our October Therapist of the Month. October is a very special month for our therapist as she was married on the 1st. She is now a step-mom to 4 children, 11, 13, 16, and 18. Her family of 6 is joined by their 4 furry children including 2 dogs and 2 cats. She spends most of her time with her family, going to school events, watching movies, and working on their house.

Heather says she became interested in physical therapy at the age of 10 years old when she watched the movie “A Step Towards Tomorrow”. The movie follows the story of a young boy who suffered a spinal cord injury, but through therapy was able to walk again. This was Heather’s inspiration for pursuing physical therapy.

In 2008, Heather received a Bachelors of Science in Biology and Physiology from Northwest Missouri State University. She went on to obtain her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Rockhurst University in 2011.

Heather loves being a physical therapist because she gets to meet amazing people and can greatly improve someone’s life. There is nothing more rewarding than helping my patients return to normal function with less pain. I find this profession extremely rewarding.

She currently has several specialties including Certified Kinesio Tape Practitioner, ASTYM Certified Provider, and SFMA (Selective Functional Movement Assessment).

Thank you for your hard work, Heather!
